What's in it for me ? I just love technology and want to introduce it to everyone. I want people to understand that it has been so easy for anyone out there to just use your commonsense and make money. You don't have to be a technical geek to really do these kinds of things.

It has been my dream to be an entrepreneur for a vey long time as may be the case for a lot of you folks. I have some ideas all the time but not the guts to get going with some investment into it. Having one full time job I was afraid that I might have to quit that to really be serious about any business that I start. But now I have found other ways to get something going by the side without any effort and make some money out of it. At least this will introduce me into a lot of new things and once I get there it will more close to what I want. Don't try to make leaps, start small and when you think it is really picking up then it is up to you to decide.

Enough said about all this. Let me cut the crap and get you started. All of you have some passion or the other and that is all you need. With that passion write up something which interests people. Even if you are not sure your knowledge is worth creating an article look up more material on that topic on the internet. You will find a whole lot of conformation on any topic. Read that and use your ideas into it and create a few pages of articles on that topic. Beg, borrow and steal is absolutely fine in this age where that is what everyone does on the internet.

Now a little technical info. Let me make you a technical geek. Don't get scared. You are one if you are surfing on the internet. Now the 4 steps to getting done.

First you need to find the right domain name for your write up. You can go to any domain registration site and register it. One of the cheapest domain registration site is godaddy.com where you can register for as little as 7 or 8 dollars per year. There you can try your domain name and validate that it is not taken by anyone. Then register it. You are 1/3 rd done.

Secondly you need a hosting provider where your web pages will be hosted. There are again a number of ones like ultrasurge.com, godaddy.com and so on. You can serach for the best deals here as well and since you need very little space don't look for a lot of functionality. For what I going to introduce you you will need the hosting provider to provide a MYSQL Database so look for one that does that. The ones I mentioned above will work. Don't spend more than 20 or 30 dollars per year for this. Once you do this you are 2/3 rds done. Isn't that nice !!!

Third you need a few web pages created on that host. Here you can use html and create using some tool like dreamweaver or cheaper than that is download some free html editor and do it. But I would suggest something slightly different. If you can spend a little time, which you might otherwise spend on learning html, to figure out how to configure an open source portal software. For some this might sound latin but when you try it you will find it very simple. I can help you do this and if need be you can contact me for it and I can even technically support you through this unless you want me to go through all of it to set it up where I might charge you per the rates stated on this site for community building. If youdecide o do it yourself here are the tools you might want to use. One of the open source portal tools for this purpose that I would recommend is drupal (www.drupal.org). Some other are joomla, mambo and so forth unless you want to try all and find which suits you best. You might see some comparison on the site http://opensourcecms.com/ and click on the left panel where it says portals.

Last but not least is the revenue generation piece. It is very simple. Use one of a number of different online advertisement providers to get this working. To get a listing of the various different online advertisers you could work with, check this link which is very helpful. If you are confused on which one to use just try one to begin with and maybe that could be one of the most popular ones like google adsense to put ads on your website. When visitors come to this site and click on these links and buys from the them it creates revenue for you :). I know folks who make as little to 5-10 dollars a month to folks who make thousands a month. It all depends on how much traffic can you get to your site. There are a number of free ways you can get there and also some paid ways. It is all up to you as to how much you want to make and how fast.
